After starting out as an actor and producer, Karl Spoerri worked as an agent in Germany for 6 years, where he represented numerous well known German and Swiss actors and actresses.
In 2004, Karl decided to bring the digital film festival "onedotzero" to Switzerland – the small festival turned out to be a big success leading to his decision to found the international Zurich Film Festival in 2005. Together with his founding partner Nadja Schildknecht, he has been responsible for the conception and organization of the Zurich Film Festival and other cultural events around Zurich.
In January 2009, Karl Spoerri was appointed managing director of Millbrook Pictures Ltd.
